Veterinary Doctors

Dr. Craig Johnson

Dr. Craig Johnson grew up in Eau Claire, graduated from UWEC in 1991, and from UW-Madison Veterinary School in 1995. After practicing for five years in Alaska, he returned to his hometown. He assumed ownership of Eau Claire Animal Hospital in 2004.

Dr. Johnson lives on a hobby farm in Elk Mound with his wife Kristin, two boys Jake & Alex, a Pug, Norman; a St. Bernard, Bernie and Bart the house cat, plus many farm animals. He enjoys family time, gardening, camping, and fishing.

Dr. Cynthia Mather

Dr. Cynthia Mather graduated from Iowa State University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree and in 1989 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. She practiced in Illinois for five years, then moved to Wisconsin and joined the staff here full-time in 1994.

Dr. Mather is married to Steven Abraham and has an only son, Ethan. She enjoys singing and playing French horn in her church praise team, taking care of her many animals and spending free time with her family. Her hobbies include gardening, biking, sewing and kayaking. In 2010, she was commissioned into the Army Reserve Veterinary Corps as a captain.
Dr. Cynthia Mather

Dr. Jodi Bohl

Dr. Jodi Bohl grew up in Bloomer and graduated from UW-Madison in 1992. After practicing in Lake Geneva for two years and Menomonie for ten years, she joined ECAH in 2005. She concentrates mainly on dogs and cats with special interest in feline medicine and behavior and alternative medicine. She is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners.

Dr. Bohl lives in rural Elk Mound with her husband Todd, sons Brandon & Ryan and their cat Cali. She enjoys camping, reading, family time and watching her son’s sports activities.
Dr. Jodi Bohl

Dr. Mackenzie Jeffers

Dr. Mackenzie Jeffers graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 2003 and UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. After practicing in LaCrosse for 2 ½ years, she joined Eau Claire Animal Hospital in 2009.

She cares for dogs and cats with a special interest in ultrasound. Dr. Jeffers lives in Chippewa Falls with her husband, Cory and guinea pig, Ferdie.
Dr. Mackenzie Jeffers

Management

Jayne

A native of Eau Claire, Jayne has worked in the veterinary field since 1988, first as a receptionist then practice manager. She received her degree in Supervisory Management from CVTC in 2007.

In her spare time, Jayne enjoys reading, traveling, boating on the Mississippi River, Roller Derby and working with stained glass. Her husband, two children and three dogs keep her very busy with their love of outdoor activities.

Jayne is very pleased with pet owners who desire to learn more about their pets' care, from treatment options to preventive medicine.

Certified Veterinary Technician

Heather, CVT

Heather began working at the Eau Claire Animal Hospital in 1988. She left briefly when she moved to Phoenix, Arizona for two years where she worked with a variety of exotic animals. Heather received her veterinary technician certification from MATC in 1994.

Heather and her husband Duane live South of Eau Claire with their children Dugan, Gunder and Annamaria. A lover of the outdoors, she enjoys riding her motorcycle, relief milking and camping. She has a small zoo at her house consisting of a Mastiff named Killian, four cats named Sally Meow, Arnie, Biscayne and Oreo.

Heather loves the diversity of her job, from puppies and kittens and exotics pets to geriatrics.

Kari H., CVT

A Minnesota girl through and through, Kari was born and raised in Hibbing. She attended the Hibbing Community College, Duluth Business University, and Medical Institute of Minnesota where she earned her degree as a Certified Veterinary Technician.

Kari has a cabin in Northern Minnesota where she helps her family maintain a large tree farm. She enjoys fishing, target practice, four wheeling, snowmobiling, figure skating and showing classic cars with her dad.

Kari and her husband, Brian, have a yellow lab named Tracker and a bulldog named Oliver.

Gwen, CVT

Raised on a six hundred acre, beef and hog farm in Independence, Gwen is the youngest child with 2 older brothers. She earned her certification for veterinary technician through Argosy University in 2004.

When not at work, Gwen helps out on the farm with piling bales, feeding cattle, sorting calves, and growing gourds and painted pumpkins that are sold to local grocery stores in Eau Claire and La Crosse.

In her spare time she enjoys shopping and spending time with her family and friends.

Janine, CVT

Janine has been working at the Eau Claire Animal Hospital since May 2003. She started as an animal caregiver and quickly moved into her current position as a certified veterinary technician after receiving her certification from Argosy University in 2009. She absolutely loves her job and the animals we care for. She eventually hopes to combine her love for animals and massage therapy.

Janine has 2 cats: Percie and and Lucy and two dogs: Reagan and Reba, who keep her very busy.

Megan, CVT

Megan was born in Ashland, WI and moved with her parents and two brothers to Fall Creek in 1982. Growing up with cats, dogs, hamsters, rabbits, rats, birds and of course horses; a deep passion for animals grew. This love c0ontinued through life, and Megan now breeds and shows her Quarter Horses with the National Reining Horse Association all over the nation. She was named, along with her horse, Dahlia, the Rookie of the Year for the North Central Region in 2009, and also named one of the top 20 Rookies of the Nation in 2009. Megan also has competed in AKC Hunt Test with her German Shorthaired Pointer, Kate, and loves to go to the field with her hunting partner.

Megan recently purchased a home in the Eau Claire area with her partner Jeff and two children Issac and Danielle. The family is completed by Kate, three cats, Charlie, Penny and Sylvia, as well as plenty of fish. As a family, fishing, camping, trail riding and hunting are well enjoyed.

With the help of her family and co-workers, Megan recently attained Veterinary Technician Certification and hopes to continue advancing her career and education at Eau Claire Animal Hospital as well as sharing her love of animals with the community.

Crystal, CVT

Crystal has spent her life surrounded by animals of all sorts. Having experience with animals ranging from as small as hamsters to as large as horses, her love and passion for their care and happiness has grown and developed.

Between working at ECAH and attending Globe University full time for the veterinary technician program, she also works for the Eau Claire County Humane Association. She has brought home a ‘zoo’ of animals, varying widely. She and her family have 2 cats, William and Stevie Wonder Cat; 1 chinchilla, Chilli; 2 dogs, D-O-G (a Westie) and Buddy (a Brussels Griffon mix); and an Arabian/Appaloosa cross horse named Sunni. She spends her spare time caring for her wide variety of animals and learning what she can about animal behavior and welfare.

She loves to help as best she can and is always looking forward to what else there is to learn.

Reception Staff

Kathy

Of all our great employees, Kathy has been here the longest. She enjoys the many interesting pets and all the different types of care available for animals, her fun co-workers, and of course, the owners.

In her spare time away from work, Kathy loves going "up to the cabin." She also enjoys watching the wild life in her back yard. She has four grandchildren that keep her busy. When she returns to work we love to hear the stories of their unpredictable happenings together.

Kathy has a Shih Tzu mix named Whitigger, and a Shih Tzu named Abby.

Patti

Patti has been employed full-time since 1998. She is our green thumb due to her love of gardening. She also enjoys decorating, crafts, painting, shopping, and watching dirt track racing. The time she spends with her friends and family members is especially important to her.

Patti has 2 dogs: Max a cocker spaniel and Louis a Shih Tzu and a cat named Charlie.

Patti lists helping owners with their questions and knowing them and their pets by name as the best part of her job. Look for her friendly smile at your next visit.

Sue

Sue has worked at ECAH since 1999 as a receptionist and animal caregiver. She has three small dogs: Corky, a mini-dachshund mix, Paco, a pug, and Ina a corgi; 3 cats, Buzz, Starling & Tripper; 4 birds, a loud Sun Conure named Magee and 3 parakeets: Olive, Pippin & Echo; and 2 rabbits: Salty & Haven, and 2 fosters: Honey & Oscar.

Sue loves reading and animals and learning more about their behaviors and care. She likes to help clients who have a question or problem with their pets, to be able to figure out a solution that works best for everybody. She is especially interested in rabbits and in “spreading the word” about what a great pet they can be. Sue volunteers at the Eau Claire County Humane Association and does rabbit foster care.
She is married to Don and has two grown children.

Billie

Billie, our newest employee, has worked in the veterinary field for the last six years. In 2004 she was certified through Penn Foster as a Certified Vet Assistant.

She was born and raised in Chippewa Falls and now resides with her husband Ryan and children Paige and Corbin on 20+ acres in Cadott. She has a small zoo at her residence with 2 boxers Ely & Clyde, one cocker spaniel named Bear, 4 cats, Theo, Baneli, Kit Kat and Mittens, one rabbit named Waffles, a turtle named Phill and 3 Quarter horses, Classy, PJ and Miller.

As a family they enjoy fishing, hunting, camping, bike rides, walks, playing basketball, baseball, board games and spending time with each other and all their pets.

Billie's passion is animals and working with their humans! She is very excited to be a part of the family at Eau Claire Animal Hospital.

Stacey

Stacey grew up in a small town, Campbellsport, in Fond du Lac County surrounded by farmland. In 2004 she moved to Eau Claire and fell in love with the area and people here, she may never leave.

Growing up her family had cats and dogs, today her boyfriend and she have upgraded to a solar powered hobby farm. They have Charlie a horse, Gryffindor a Bernese mountain dog, Indiana a husky mix, Zelda a shorthair domestic cat, Dean and Sam Winchester, two Bengal cats and free range chickens. Stacey loves to cook and eat anything fresh from the garden. By the end of each year she has probably canned around 200 quarts from jam to venison.

Over the past few years she has traveled all over the USA and collected gems and minerals from everywhere. The inside of her house shows of it, she has rocks all over.

Grooming Staff

Christy

Christy may be new to the Eau Claire Animal Hospital Grooming Spa but she has lived in the Eau Claire area her whole life. After graduating from Altoona and Eau Claire tech, she married her high school sweetheart. They have a wonderful daughter.

Christy has a marketing degree but choose to pursue her passion of showing, grooming and training dogs. She has been involved with dogs over 30 years and handling dogs professionally for the past 19 years. She also enjoys teaching conformation dog show classes over the past 15 years at Rude Dog U and EmBark.

Christy and her husband are known for specializing in German Shepherds. Her passion is showing dogs and they have had the pleasure of showing many breeds from all seven groups. They have finished over 80 American champions and several Canadian champions. They have won many Best of Breed and over 100 group 1st and several group placing. They have had the wonderful honor of 12 Best in Shows in two countries. In April 2009, they took Best in Show at the local Indianhead Kennel Club here in Eau Claire with a Newfoundland.

In 1996 and 1997, they had the honor of campaigning a locally owned German Shepherd bitch named, Best in Show/Select AM/Can CH Hi-Cliffs High Hopes to the number one German Shepherd in the United States two years in a row in both the All Breed and Specialty system. She was also Select in Canada and the US at the Nationals.

Kennel Staff

Katlyn

Since Katlyn was little, she has had an unconditional love for animals. She moved to Elk Mound from Canada in 1995 with her family and pets: Cloudy, and American Eskimo, and Tigger, a domestic shorthair cat. At age 8, she adopted a golden Labrador retriever, Tuggles and soon after Allie, a domestic shorthair cat from the humane association. Today, her family recently adopted Sophie, a Jack Russell Terrier, and still has Allie.

Katlyn graduated from Elk Mound High School in 2009 and is currently attending Globe University for Veterinary Technology, Associate degree and later pursuing the Bachelors degree. She lives with her fiance, Camren, in Fall Creek with their newly adopted cat, Angus and four guinea pigs: the girls, Peanut and Jelly and the boys, Sparky and Psycho. Katlyn hopes to adopt many more different species of animals.

In her spare time, she loves playing with her pets, camping, eating unique foods, attending rock concerts and playing video games-Mario is her favorite. Her dream is to work at a zoo or run a wildlife rehab center and follow in the footsteps of her idol, Jeff Corwin.

Corinne

Corinne grew up having a love of all creatures great and small and has wanted to be in the veterinary field to help animals her entire life. She moved to Eau Claire from her hometown Mosinee in 2009 and has been pursuing a degree in veterinary technology every since. Currently earning her CVT through Penn Foster College, Corinne hopes to continue her education through working at the Eau Claire Animal Hospital and earn a Bachelor’s degree to work as a Veterinary Technologist.

At home, Corinne is mom to two cats; Jinxy and Jake, a rabbit named Bowser, four Russian dwarf hamsters; Ed, Roy, Daisy and Runt, and a female beta fish named Marla. She hopes to one day open and run an Animal Rescue Center where she can care for animals 24/7.
In her spare time, Corinne enjoys being outdoors, doing service through her fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega, reading and practicing her other passion (other than animals) singing.
